Raheem Sterling’s Liverpool team mates reportedly want the player to leave the club.
Manchester City are thought to be ready to make their final bid for the 20-year-old.
The Liverpool squad are hoping that want-away winger Raheem Sterling leaves the club, according to David Anderson and John Cross of The Mirror.
The 20-year-old has missed two sessions since returning to pre-season training this week and is wanting to miss the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
Some members of the playing staff are upset with the attitude that Sterling has taken to force a move away from Anfield.
If Sterling is to leave Liverpool, that could lead to a replacement and the squad are excited by who the club brings in, so are privately hoping that he does depart.
Jordan Henderson, who is set to be named the clubs new captain on Friday following Steven Gerrard’s departure, still has a good relationship with his club and international team mate.
Brendan Rodgers is anticipating a third bid from Manchester City, having rejected two bids in the region of £35-£40m, and City are understood to be considering a £40m bid plus add-ons which they believe will be accepted by the Ulsterman.
City could be looking to get a deal done this week as they fly out to Australia on Sunday for an 11-day training camp and the Reds have their first pre-season game next week against Thai All Stars.
