Scott Taylor talks us through this week’s game time of the Liverpool players who are currently out on loan.
Bit of a mixed bag this weekend with a couple of injuries, a few failed impacts, a Cup final goal and a match winning assist.
After picking up a red card for a foul on Jordon Ibe last week, England Under 21 left back Jack Robinson was suspended for 3 games and therefore did not feature for Blackpool in their 4-0 defeat at Watford and will not be available in their next game against 16th placed Bournemouth.
As many may know, Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has joined Championship side Birmingham City on a loan deal until the end of the season. Ibe did impress on debut in the 2-1 win at Blackpool and he built on his debut with a 45 minute showing in the 1-0 defeat away to Ipswich. Ibe did have 1 shot on goal and it was Birmingham’s only shot on target. Ibe did pick up an ankle injury though and has pulled out of the England Under 19 squad and is a doubt for Birmingham in their next match against 4th placed QPR at St Andrews.
On loan defender Andre Wisdom again played another 90 minutes as Derby lost to promotion rivals Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday. The result leaves Derby 5 points adrift of Burnley in the race for automatic promotion and Wisdom will more than likely play another 90 minutes in Derby’s next game against struggling Millwall, who lie in 21st place in the Championship.
Conor Coady celebrated his 21st Birthday with another strong 90 minute for Sheffield United as they beat 9th placed MK Dons 1-0 on Saturday. Coady played a major part in the victory by setting up Stefan Scougall’s goal in the 23rd minute. It is now the Blades’ 9th win in a row and they will be looking to win 10 consecutive games when they play Charlton in the FA Cup Quarter Final at Bramall Lane.
Michael Ngoo started in his first two games for Walsall but after not making an impact in these games, Ngoo came on as an 81st minute substitute in their 2-1 defeat to Preston. It is likely that Ngoo will again start from the bench in Walsall’s next game against top of the table Wolves.
Spain Under 21 midfielder Suso came on as a 79th minute substitute as Almeria lost to Barcelona on Sunday. In the final 11 minutes that Suso played, his only action was committing a foul on Pedro in the 91st minute of the match. 17th placed Almeria’s next match is at home to 7th placed Sevilla and Suso will be hoping to play more than 11 minutes.
Krisztian Adorjan was not in the match day squad for Groningen in their 1-1 draw against 12th placed Cambuur Leeuwar. Earlier in the week, Adorjan was omitted from the Hungary Under 21 squad and it is unclear whether his omission from the squad is linked to his absence for Groningen. 9th placed Groningen’s next game is against 4th placed Feyenoord and Adorjan will be hoping to feature for them in that game.
Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi has been enjoying a good spell of games at Stoke City but was not in the squad in Stoke’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday. This was because he had picked up an injury to his knee ligaments during the club’s recent warm-weather training camp in Dubai. It is unknown when the Moroccan will be back.
Italian forward Fabio Borini has been in spectacular form for Sunderland in recent months and that continued as the 22 year old scored Sunderland’s only goal as they lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup Final. In the full 90 minutes that Borini played, he seemed to cause problems for Vincent Kompany and was unlucky not to score a 2nd. After this performance, it is clear that Borini will more than likely be in the starting line-up for Sunderland when they are back in cup action against Hull City in the FA Cup Quarter Final at the KC Stadium next Sunday.
